Punctured
/Being punctured can feel painful, humbling, and even unfair, especially when it disrupts the image we hold of ourselves or the certainty we have built around our own importance. Yet the puncturing itself can be an expression of Grace, releasing the inflated ego, expectations, and attachments that keep us from seeing ourselves and others clearly. There is beauty in becoming “right-sized”—neither diminishing our worth nor exaggerating our significance, but finding a more honest and grounded place in the world. Sometimes Grace arrives not by building us up, but by helping us get over ourselves so there is more room for humility, connection, and truth.
What might become possible if the moments that puncture our egos were received not simply as discomfort, but as Grace inviting us to become more right-sized? What if we were to welcome those disquieting experiences and allow them to guide us?
