Speaking True: Rollercoaster

I spend a lot of time with clients of many kinds dealing with their difficulties. The comment I often find myself making is that the only difference between being terrorized on a roller coaster versus being exhilarated on a roller coaster is the attitude we bring to the ride.

Right? I mean, the roller coaster doesn't change; it is what it is. What does change is our expectation, what we think we're going to get out of the ride, and how we relate to it.

It's true for far more than rollercoasters. Actually, it's true for all of life. After all, life is a roller coaster ride in one way or another, regardless of the kinds of experiences.

The question then becomes, "What am I bringing to any experience? What am I bringing to this ride that I'm on this day, this week, this month, this part of my life, this segment of a lifetime?”

How we view it changes it fundamentally. That's an inside change. It's a beautiful thing. Research shows that our experience has little to do with what's out there, and everything to do with what's inside.

Take a look at what's inside you. Then see how the outside changes.

It's beautiful way to see the world differently and maybe to have an exhilarating ride, no matter what.
