Speaking True: Projection

We humans are non-stop projection devices. Consciously and unconsciously, we invariably find ways of projecting ourselves into situations and circumstances that actually have nothing to do with us.

Consider for a moment what it would mean if we did not interject ourselves into the anger, frustration, discouragement or troubles of others. What might happen if we allow them to have their own experience, and to work through it for themselves? Not that we aren’t interested or available to them. Not that we can’t support or encourage. Rather to have healthy boundaries.

Imagine the weight lifted off of us. And of course, imagine the benefits to them when we allow them that opportunity. Besides that, by keeping ourselves from projecting ourselves into circumstances in which we do not belong, we increase the likelihood of positive outcomes.

We are projectors, but with awareness and some practice, it doesn’t have to continue. We can be free, and we can let them be free.
